Yawn, I really overdid it these two nights watching Winter Sonata until 12 midnight and then I couldn't listen to my favorite music driving to and fro work because my husband took my car (the car that has the CD player)  to go to Washington to mow the lawn at our house I keep falling asleep all day. I need my familiar songs like these. Jay Sean - Ride It, Do You. Now I don't want to sleep until I have enough of music. Perhaps I'll wake up earlier to listen to the music first for 2 hours before I go to work.



OMG, I was looking through the two Asian artist on that girl's webspace below and she had a Stevie Hoang who is a Chinese who lived in Vietnam and went to London and now a recording artist for R&B songs. I couldn't get into his beats but this guy, Brian Seo, is incredible. Great voice, and great arrangements. And apparently  he writes his own songs. Go to his My Space and listen to all his songs. Incredibly well done!!! The first time I heard the song Tell Me How, I thought that it sounded Chinese. Now I understand why. He's Chinese in Delaware. Anyway, Open Your Eyes and What Happens To Me are very good songs.

OMG, the new Akon album is so good. For the majority of it, it is for the disco. I didn't have to shovel my middle son out of bed today. I just told him that the new AKON album is really good and he had to come listen to it and he jumped out of bed at once. Akon went back to singing about naked girls and sex and criminals in a few songs and they are really good. This album is a crowd pleaser. It has one song to appeal to Africans because it's called Oh Afirca which I don't care for. Rock Me is just like that. It sounded like a cross of Tears for Fears of Shout and Linkin Park's intro. A totally refreshing tune and I bet it would be at all school dances. My son jumped on the computer to email all his friends about this new album. Kids really dig Akon that's why he had to keep it clean now. Still....hehe...the naked girl pieces....and She Wants Sex...haha... You could listen to the album here or here. My husband came out of the room amid loud thumps and asked, "Isn't this the same dude?" Yes, it's the same dude that he listens to and likes. LOL. The other slow song is So Special.

I received my packet from Yesasia today. A yay for the shirtless photos of Park Yong Ha in the Stars album. Wow. He's not that fat! I hope he would show some muscles soon in the new drama. But nay for the songs in the album. Apart from One Love, the same song from the single, I didn't like any of the songs in the album. This is the first time. He seriously needs to use Korean composers more and not the jpop artist. It's very hard on the ear to hear these drums thumping away and the melody is not danceable nor singable. Jpop irks me and he should have tried more kpop for the Japanese market. Even the ballads from Korea would be better than what his composers are dishing out for him. Sigh. I'll be hopeful that the next album would be better. The last two album was really good. This one is really off - totally off.? Edit: Alright, there is one song that I like. The song IF has an uplifting mood to it reminiscent of soccer stadium type of songs. LOL. Perhaps after the 10th round of the album, I'll find another song I'll like.

This is really annoying. Oricon charts didn't show his sales figure for the STAR album for daily ranking in the end and then for the weekly, he's off the top 50 charts. For that week, at no. 50 position, they sold 2400 copies plus. That means his album sold less than that? Geez. How do they survive on so few copies when JE boys sells over 100,000 copies. Really scary. PYH, pls make more dramas and movies instead. I had a glimpse of the photo booklet of his single limited edition and it's so worth it. He has such a winning smile!

I'm so excited. Yesasia emailed me and said the packet is on the way. It's like those art supply addicts who buy art materials and keep tracking on UPS which city is it going through and how soon it would be here. Only that I can't track. I could only hope it will arrive in around 5 days. Today, I doublechecked his sales ranking for the new album STARS and it says for daily, it's ranked at no. 5. Not bad at all. But I wonder how many copies he sold though. I hope Oricon will update its charts soon. Next week we should be able to see the weekly sales. In the meantime, his single was off the top 30 charts in one week.

Alright, I'm totally confused. A couple of weeks ago, I saw Estuko posting a link to a limited edition to the STARs album but now it's gone. I emailed Yesasia and told them I saw other sites selling a Limited edition and I told them I wanted that instead of whatever was posted on their site. They emailed back and said they would make sure I get the first press. Now there isn't any. I guess he's only going to produce on edition then. Well, all the better so I don't have to pay for two items. But the wait! I don't get to receive the CD single and album until June 21. Yesasia closed their San Francisco office so I didn't have to pay California taxes anymore but it's a longer wait. But it's still worth it because it's still free shipping and I don't have to go through a Japanese site and I could piggy back other Korean stuff with it when I buy. Can't get any easier than that.



I went back to some old records to check his sales for his last single compared to ONE LOVE released on May 19. The Saiai No Hito single released on November 30, 2009 had a weekly total of 9570 copies sold and ranked no. 11. It had very strong competition as usual against Yamapi's LOVELESS at 190,000 plus copies. Well, this single ONE LOVE has guess who as compeition? Arashi's Monster which raked in 543,000 plus copies the same week and Kat-Tun's Going which sold 230,000 plus the week before and then another 70,000 copies the week of May 19. I used to follow JE boys sales very closely and I'm used to over 100,000 sales figures. Kinki Kids and V6 sales sometimes go below 100,000 and it starkly stands out but to have sales less than 10,000, it seems to be the norm for individual artists these days in Japan. I'm surprised that Park Yong Ha continues to be able to release albums despite low sales. I am betting that he makes it up with DVD sales of his dramas and movies. And of course, you do make quite a bit in concerts. So for ONE LOVE, it raked in 6,570 copies and stood at no. 17. PYH fans really need to buy the originals to support him or we won't hear his voice if he stops producing.

OMG, I'm going to faint. I happen to look up the list of?Korean songs that were sung by Chinese artists and only now I realized that Jacky Cheung did a cover on Park Yong Ha's All In Drama theme song, "Just Like in The Past". He called it, "If you don't love me". Listen to it here. Oh dear, two of my favorite artists singing the same song. I got to translate the Jacky Cheung version soon. Well, if you ask me, now that I listen to it a few times, I like Park Yong Ha's rendition.?Jacky has a great voice but PYH has a softer touch this time. I can't believe I?said that. Jacky is top notch but I don't think PYH fandom is clouding my judgement. Listen to it yourself. PYH does not shout when he is in the loud parts. That's why he amazes me so much. ?PYH's English song "I love you so much" is a cover of a Chinese song written by a Chinese composer called Chen Wai and sung originally by Elva Hsiao here by the same title.? Taiwanese artist Maggie Chiang Mei Chi江美琪's 只有分离/ Only Separate is the cover to PYH's Separate from the Present album. She doesn't have the voice for the loud parts. Sorry.

OMG, I found a sampling site for his latest album LOVE. It is so good.? It has so many styles - light hearted ones, ballads, fast songs, happy songs. It is such an impressive album. For the first time I could say his voice doesn't drag in any of the numbers whereas some of the older songs do. I love the songs Love Story, Tomorrow, Joy, 君????愛??? , Holiday, ???? , Nobody knows. But of all, TOMORROW really stands out because it sounds so much like the songs that Koichi Domoto sings! Danceable songs if he wants to.

Finally, after all the back and forth, the drama managed to end. Oh god, how long were they going to drag out the last few episodes and they put so little of Park Yong Ha in the last few episodes. Yet, I have to say I am very pleased with the writing of the last long monologues and feelings of Park Yong Ha's part. It's very satisfying that the writer took a multi effect approach and let him handle it. Thank goodness. Park Yong Ha had the perfect outburst, upturned scornful lips and pointed nose. OMG, he was so good when he blew up in those two parts. Not my desired ending but he outshone Bae Yong Jun in the last episode. They let Park Yong Ha have the heat and passion. I still hate how they make him suffer. If anything, I like Park Yong Ha's character and would consider myself very lucky if there is such a character in my life. Here, my preferred screencaps. BTW, the next drama he would be in, he would get the same scriptwriter of Winter Sonata but not the director. There is room for the girl in the drama to be indecisive. Just whatever it is, don't put Choi Ji Woo in this drama.

I'm now up to episode 16.? The drama is getting tiring because of the back and forth of these characters and how predictable the reaction is of Bae Yong Jun and Choi Ji Woo. Choi Ji Woo has not changed her acting from those days to her appearance in Beautiful Life or Stairway to Heaven or that movie with Jo Han Sun. She has the same look, same expression and same tears over and over again. Bae Yong Jun should get the stoned face award of the century. Park Yong Ha's two monologue had me almost to tears. I'm telling you, if you put the two together, Park Yong Ha's role was much more demanding than Bae Yong Jun's. He had to show huge mood swings, silliness, forlornness, lovesickness, loss and happiness. Bae Yong Jun only had to show coldness and aloofness and 16 episodes later, he was required to shed a tear or two. Pfft. Of course Park Yong Ha is a better actor. And what with all that green and blue outfits? I don't know if you all notice but they outfitted Park Yong Ha with extremely stylish clothes and suits. Much better than Bae Yong Jun's if you look very closely.

I have just finished up to episode 9. OMG, I'm seriously having an indigestion of Choi Ji Woo's character's indecision. I couldn't really stomach this plot. But at least they gave Park Yong Ha some screen time. I don't know what is the charm of Bae Yong Jun. Seriously, he has the face of a stone statue who smiles without expression. His lower jaw looks like he has a lower occlusion. There is no charm from him at all. His acting is very wooden. Pfft, what's the big hoola about him because of this drama. If anything, the audience should swoon for Park Yong Ha, his loyalty and undying patience and love for this unworthy girl in the story. For those who say he doesn't know how to act, I say the same of Bae Yong Jun. Here are some of my favorite screeecaps. The scene of him in the bar smoking took my breath away. He always looks good with a cigarette. And it took me a whole half hour to find the scene of his leaning against the door in the dark( It's in episode 9 at 33 mins plus). OMG, when that scene came on, my heart stopped. It was so pretty! This story is as distasteful as all Korean triangular love (my son called it a square love since there are four persons involved.) There's always this bitchy character who makes things up. It's so much like Loving You. Sigh. At least in Loving You, Park Yong Ha was the main character. But anyway, I really like how the director gave ample time for close ups of Park Yong Ha and I caught all his expressions here and more. Poor guy. LOL. His next drama is going to be by the same director of Winter Sonata and I have high hopes for it even though I know the story already. If the director could make it as elegant as the scenes in Winter Sonata, it's a plus already. The Comrades, Almost a Love Story is a very inhibited love too and so Park Yong Ha would be perfect for it. Finally, it's his turn to be the main character under this director. Thank goodness. And yes, thanks for sparing us from Bae Yong Jun again.?Now that I look more at the young Park Yong Ha and his straight pointed nose, I am more appreciative of his more mature looks and a slightly rounder nose. He does look good now.

I finally had the chance to continue to watch this drama. OMG, I can't believe how they are going to make Park Yong Ha suffer in this drama. This is too hard. LOL. But thank goodness he has so much screen time in episode 3 and 4. This is really tough that Choi Ji Woo doesn't love him as much. I fast forwarded all the Bae Yong Jun parts and focused on the beautiful looks of PYH back then. He looked so young. I think the nose then was before the surgery. It looks a lot smaller and pointier and prettier. Aiessh...wish they gave him a better nose job than what he has now. Poor guy. Still with a different nose, he still looks handsome. I totally enjoy the tortured soul of PYH in these two episodes. It is not two episodes of expressive acting. It's in the heart and you could feel it. When he knelt by her side doubting himself, that was a very well delivered part. Some of my favorite screencaps for these two episodes. You know which part of him that attracts me most ? His thin lips that curled up and has this very scornful look to it. And these days, coupled with his dimples, it makes a very attractive smile. I am very hopeful that Love Song would be a very nice drama because even back then, Winter Sonata was beautifully filmed.

xyz資訊工坊 I don't know where to stick this in and so I start a general commentary thread on him like I do for the major artists that I follow. After a year of resistance, I finally dragged my feet to watch the dreaded Winter Sonata. Dreaded because I don't like Choi Ji Woo nor Bae Yong Jun. Aiessh, the beginning two episodes are all about those two. So annoying. Of course, I'm watching Park Yong Ha for this. Already at that point, he displayed the perfect sense of injustice done to him by Choi Ji Woo. I can't believe he had to still like her despite her wandering off. Got to say, the filming back then was superior with great colors and scenery. I wish the bicycling scene was with Park Yong Ha and not the other male lead. The plot is so cheesy. Geez, getting lost in the dark wooded area is no big deal. I can't believe the audience likes this stuff. It's so....childish. But I'll watch on to see how Park Yong Ha suffer. I know what I'm going to do. Just like I did for Beautiful Life of Lee Byung Hun's, I'll fast forward all the Choi Ji Woo parts when she's alone or with the dreaded stone faced Bae Yong Jun and just go to Park Yong Ha parts. LOL. This way, I should be able to get through it quickly.
