HKBU awards 440 scholarships to outstanding students
浸大頒發四百四十項獎學金予傑出學生
At the Scholarship Presentation Ceremony today (27 April), organised by the Academic Registry, the University awarded 440 scholarships totalling HK$8.4 million to outstanding students. The scholarships were donated by more than 140 organisations, professional bodies, firms and individuals.
Professor Fan Yiu-kwan, Vice-President (Development), expressed the University's gratitude to scholarship donors. He announced the good news that the amount raised for application to the 3rd round of Matching Grant Scheme, launched by the University Grants Committee, far exceeded the lower floor figure set by the Government. The donations confirmed society's recognition of and support for HKBU, its staff, students and alumni. Professor Fan hoped donors would continue to support and give encouragement to HKBU, and thus help the University to nurture talented students. He also encouraged the scholarship awardees to scale new heights, have a thankful heart and determine to contribute their knowledge to society for the well-being of all.
Professor Ng Ching-fai, President and Vice-Chancellor, presented souvenirs to the benefactors. In appreciation of scholarship and financial aid donors' generous support, after the ceremony a tea reception was held at which students were given a chance to meet with donors to express their gratitude in person.
This year in addition to scholarships, HKBU received a total of HK$2.8 million in bursaries and loans -- benefiting around 300 students -- donated by over 30 organisations/individuals.
大學今天(四月二十七日) 在教務處安排的獎學金頒授典禮上，頒發由140多個團體、專業組織、機構及人士捐贈的440項、合共約港幣840萬元的獎學金予傑出同學。
副校長 ( 拓展 ) 范耀鈞教授致辭時向捐獻獎學金的人士和機構致謝。他說大學在第三期配對補助金籌得的款項遠超政府所訂的下限，證明社會人士對浸大、師生和校友的認同與支持。他希望在座各位捐助人繼續支持和鼓勵大學，幫助大學培養一批又一批能夠學以致用、奉獻人群的英才。范教授同時勉勵得獎同學百尺竿頭，更進一步外，要心生感謝，立志將所學所得貢獻社會，造福人群。
校長吳清輝教授致送紀念品予各出席的捐助人。為答謝捐助人的支持，典禮後舉行茶會款待，讓各得獎同學與捐助者見面，親自向他們表達謝意。
除獎學金外，大學本年度更獲30多個機構/人士捐贈助學金或貸款，總額約280多萬元，獲資助的學生約有300人。
But this is only a temporary certificate used for the ceremony...
The real certificate bearing my name and my scholarship name will be available next week...

Mahler 5 完後有很多人都起立鼓掌!
