喀斯特作用向地下深处所能达到的下限。一些学者认为，喀斯特地块内的地下水主要向邻近河谷或海洋排泄，在地下水面附近有一个强烈的喀斯特地貌发育带，喀斯特发育受此带控制，因此，河流基准面或海平面为喀斯特基准面。另一些学者认为，在河床和海面以下仍然有地下水活动，尽管流动是很缓慢的，但对可溶性岩石仍有喀斯特作用，钻探资料也证实海平面以下很深的陆地有大洞、孔穴等，因而主张喀斯特基准面应是可溶性岩层的底板。特点
